Christians UnitedIt's the prayer of Jesus in John 17 and on September 27th we have the chance to be an answer to His prayer.
In front of the historic downtown courthouse/ federal building is the newly renovated Water Street Park. There followers of Jesus from any denomination will join together and worship the King, the Head, and the Cornerstone: Jesus our Lord. This city-wide night of worship will be lead by a collaborative team of local worship musicians. We are eager to bless the Lord with one voice and let the whole town know that Jesus is king! At 6:00pm the singing begins, but Water Street Park will be open for prayer and fellowship beginning at 5:00pm. Believers from every stream of Christianity are invited. Friends who don't know Jesus yet are welcome too. Spread the word and come ready to worship! |
Biblical Rationale
Ezekiel 47:1-12
The prophet Ezekiel saw a vision of water flowing from the temple of God. It began at the temple entrance, seeping out from underneath the door. The water developed into a large and deep river as it streamed into the land, bringing life, abundance and healing wherever it flowed. A beautiful picture of a glorious future, but what is the source of this living water?
John 7:37-39
During the Feast of Booths in first century Jerusalem, Jesus began teaching publicly at the temple. Near the end of festival Jesus loudly proclaimed, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. The one who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’” Here’s living water flowing from those who believe in Jesus.
Ephesians 2:17-22
Something is forming. On the firm foundation of the apostles and prophets with Jesus as the cornerstone, a new temple is being formed. It is being put together, and it is holy. What is it made of? People. The people who have been brought into God’s house from far away are being made into the holy temple of God.
This temple is the dwelling place of God. He has chosen to abide within his people and as his dwelling place, the new temple is full of the Living Water of the Holy Spirit.
Let the temple, the people, of the living God be so full of his presence that it starts to spill out into the land.
Let us watch as living water begins to bring life to the city we all love.
Let us worship our King in spirit and in truth… as one.

What to Expect
This outdoor, open-air night of worship will have a festive, casual, and joyful atmosphere. Most of the songs we sing will be those that a wide variety of Christians will already know either from the radio or from Sunday mornings. The event will begin at 6:00pm and will not extend any later than 8:00pm. Water Street will have barricades at Market Street and Princess Street, so no automobile traffic will be able to traverse through the event space. We will not be serving any food or drinks with the exception of some bottled water available as a courtesy upon request. The music will be loud enough for reach the further ends of the event space, but will not be unreasonably loud. There will not be seating so attendees will either stand for the duration of the event or bring their own seating. Portable restrooms, including one which is ADA compliant, will be on site.
